国連先住民言語の10年
According to projections, just 300 to 600 languages would remain as human languages by the end of the century, while 90% of the languages spoken today will disappear. Indigenous Peoples speak a large number of the languages classified as being in risk of disappearing, and UNESCO has been warning the world by producing a list of languages in danger of extinction in 2001. The United Nations proclaimed the period between 2022 and 2032 as the International Decade of Indigenous Languages to draw attention to the critical loss of Indigenous languages and called upon States and the UN system to preserve, revitalize and promote Indigenous languages in partnership with Indigenous Peoples. [The proclamation of an International Decade is a key outcome of the 2019 International Year of Indigenous Languages, for which UNESCO lead global efforts].
With the inclusion of culinary terminology and expressions, this website also aims to increase awareness of this subject and to support the preservation, revival, and transmission of Indigenous Peoples' languages.
